Dykes & Dragons: A Medieval Clay Club
A special October edition of Lesbian Clay Club, in collaboration with Madi from Gargoyle Studio.
October 17th 6-8 PM
Calling all dykes, dragons, knights, queers and creatures of the realm! Join us for a very special medieval-inspired edition of Lesbian Clay Club, where we're swapping swords for sculpting tools and getting our hands delightfully muddy.
Hosted by queer artist Madi from Gargoyle Studio, this workshop is a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space for queer-identifying folks and allies to come together, get creative and make a little magic.
Through clay, creativity and community, we'll explore the joy of making things with our hands, connecting with fellow queers and embracing a little self-care along the way.
Come dressed in your medieval finest! Think knights, jesters, fairies, witches, dragons, medieval maidens or whatever fantastical creature your queer heart desires. Dressing up is encouraged, but absolutely not required.
+ What We'll Be Making
In this special hand-building workshop, we'll be bringing a little magic to the studio as we sculpt our very own medieval-inspired ceramic dragons!
Think whimsical dragons with curled tails, tiny wings, fierce little faces and fantastical details. Whether you dream of creating a fire-breathing beast, a friendly little guardian or a mythical creature straight out of a fairytale, you'll be guided through the process of bringing your very own dragon to life in clay.
Madi will be giving a masterclass and guiding you through step by step through the basics of hand-building, sharing techniques, tips and creative inspiration along the way. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned clay toucher, you're welcome to follow our designs or embark on your own creative quest.
No experience necessary. Just bring yourself, your imagination and perhaps a little drink or two.
+ Lesson Length
This 2-hour workshop gives you plenty of time to sculpt, experiment and perfect your ceramic treasures.
Expect good music, great company, a little queer chaos and a whole lot of clay. Everyone will leave having created something uniquely their own (well, almost finished!).
+ Glazing & Firing
Your creations will stay with us at Posy to dry and undergo their first firing in our kiln.
You'll have the option to return for a glazing session ($55 for glaze class), where you can decorate your pieces with colourful underglazes and glazes before their final firing.
Can't make it back? No worries! Leave your treasures with us and we'll glaze them for you with either our complimentary clear glaze or premium coloured glazes for $15)
Once fired, your pieces will be shiny, functional and ready to take pride of place in your castle.
+ BYO
Our studio is BYO, so feel free to bring your favourite potions, whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
Snacks are welcome too! No food is provided during the session.
+ Who Can Attend?
This is a queer-centred space celebrating creativity, connection and community. Queer folks of all identities and our lovely allies are welcome.
Whether you're coming solo, bringing your chosen family or planning a medieval date night, there's a place for you at our clay table.
Class sizes are strictly limited to keep the experience intimate, welcoming and relaxed.
This event is strictly 18+.
