6-Week Creative Clay Course

Give your child the opportunity to slow down, get creative, and build confidence through clay. This thoughtfully designed 6-week after school program introduces young makers to the foundations of hand building and ceramic design in a relaxed, supportive studio environment.

Perfect for beginners and those with some experience, each session builds on the last encouraging creativity, skill development, and self-expression.

What to Expect
Across six weeks, students will explore a range of hand building techniques including pinch, coil, and slab construction. With guided demonstrations and plenty of time to experiment, they’ll learn how to transform raw clay into functional and decorative pieces.

Each class is kept small to allow for personalised guidance, while still fostering a social and inspiring atmosphere.

What Will They Make?
Students will create a collection of unique ceramic pieces, which may include:
• Functional ware such as mugs, bowls, or plates
• Decorative items like vases, sculptural forms, or wall hangings
• Personalised projects that reflect their own ideas and creativity

Pieces will be glazed and kiln-fired, ready for collection approximately 3–4 weeks after the program.

What They’ll Learn
• Foundational hand building techniques
• Introduction to wheel throwing (centering, shaping basic forms)
• Surface decoration and texture
• Introduction to glazing and finishing
• Creative problem solving and design thinking

• Duration: 6 weeks (1 session per week on Tuesdays 3:30-5:30)
• Session length: 2 hours
• Age group: 10–15 years
• Small group sizes for individual attention
