What to Expect
Designed for all skill levels, this course offers a warm, supportive studio environment where beginners can discover a new creative outlet and returning students can refine and elevate their existing skills. Across five weeks, you’ll learn under the guidance of Em, owner of Posy Ceramics, with full access to the Posy studio, including a variety of clays, premium underglazes, and clear & coloured glaze options.
Weekly Focus:
Week 1: Clay Types & Preparation - Pinch Pot Technique
Week 2: Studio Tools & Clay Stages - Slab Building
Week 3: Coil & Fundamentals of Underglazing & Glazing
Weeks 4 & 5: Self-guided Projects with Individual Support
Experience Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Can I Come Alone?
Absolutely. Many students join solo, and our classes are relaxed, social, and welcoming. We work together around a communal table, creating a friendly atmosphere where everyone can explore clay at their own pace.
What Can I Make?
You’ll receive 5kg of white stoneware clay to use throughout the course. This is plenty to create multiple pieces: from cups, bowls, and vases to sculptural forms and statement objects. Additional 10kg bags of clay are available in-studio for $30.
All students have access to a curated range of underglazes and both clear and coloured glazes to finish their work. All final pieces will be kiln-fired and ready for collection 2-4 weeks after the course ends.
All finished work is fully functional — microwave-safe and dishwasher-friendly.
